    The plaque reads:
    Coupe Saratoga
    Liberaty Vainqueur de Olaguibel
    19 - IX - 53
Coupe in French means goblet so this trophy is the Saratoga Goblet.
    Then it gets complicated...
    Liberaty in Latin means freedom
    Vainqueur in French means winner
The Olaguibel family was famous in Mexico in politics, art, and statesmanship
Hard to put all that together...
There is no Saratoga in Mexico, but of course there is the Saratoga racetrack in New York.  Did they sponsor a Mexican race?  Maybe someone out there recognizes this event and can let us know?
The date, if written in the European style could be September (IX) 19th 1953 but there are no races listed at Saratoga on that date.
Bottom line - it's an impressive mystery silver trophy in need of a good cleaning - 11 1/4" high, 6" wide at top, on a 5" x 5" marble base
